How fast can baby kangaroos hop?

Baby kangaroos, known as joeys, do not hop. They spend their early developmental stages inside the mother's pouch, where they are protected and nourished.

Joeys typically emerge from the pouch when they are around 6-8 months old and begin to explore their surroundings. At this stage, they are still reliant on their mothers for milk and shelter. They can move about by crawling or hopping, but their hopping abilities are not fully developed yet.

Once joeys become more independent and venture further away from the mother, their hopping abilities improve. Adult kangaroos can hop at impressive speeds, reaching up to 35-48 kilometers (22-30 miles) per hour.
