When to put calves on wheat pasture?
Calves can begin grazing wheat pastures in the late fall, when the wheat plants are 3-4 inches high. Grazing should be light at first, to avoid damaging the young plants. Calves should be allowed to graze for short periods of time, and then moved to a different pasture. As the wheat plants grow, calves can be allowed to graze for longer periods of time. By the end of the growing season, calves can be grazing wheat pastures full-time.
