What do gorilla babies eat?

Gorilla babies, just like human babies, start out with milk. They are completely dependent on their mothers' milk for nutrition for the first 6-12 months of their lives.

Once they start to wean, they gradually transition to a diet similar to their parents, which is primarily foliage:

* Leaves: They eat a wide variety of leaves, from those of trees to those of vines and shrubs.

* Shoots: Young, tender shoots are a favorite.

* Fruits: They eat a variety of fruits, including figs, berries, and wild bananas.

* Stems: They consume the stems of certain plants for their nutrients.

* Bark: In some cases, they eat bark for the nutrients and minerals it provides.

While their diet is primarily vegetarian, they occasionally eat insects and earthworms for additional protein.

It's important to note that a gorilla baby's diet will change as they grow and their digestive system develops. They will slowly become more efficient at digesting tougher foliage and larger food items.
