A lynx is a carnivore, meaning it eats meat. It typically hunts small mammals, such as hares, rabbits, and rodents. Lynxes also eat birds and fish.
To catch its prey, a lynx will use its sharp claws and teeth to ambush its victim. It will often wait in a concealed location, such as a tree or a bush, and then pounce on its prey when it comes close. Lynxes are also very agile and can climb trees to catch birds or squirrels.
Once a lynx has caught its prey, it will typically eat it whole. It may cache, or hide, some of its food for later consumption.
