How do Anteater feed their young?

Anteaters do not feed their young. After giving birth, the mother anteater will leave her young in a burrow or other location with an ample food supply. The mother will then only return periodically for short periods of time to nurse her young. During this time, the young anteater will drink the mother's milk and gain weight quickly. Once the young anteater is old enough to fend for itself, the mother will leave it permanently.
