What eats young koalas?
Young koalas are most vulnerable to predators when they are joeys, living in their mother's pouch. At this stage, they are primarily threatened by carnivorous marsupials such as quolls and feral cats, as well as large birds of prey like wedge-tailed eagles and powerful owls. Pythons can also pose a risk to young koalas when they venture out of the pouch and begin climbing trees. As they grow older, koalas become more adept at climbing and camouflaging themselves, reducing their vulnerability to predation.
