What do baby ruffed grouse eat?
Baby ruffed grouse chicks are precocial, meaning that they are hatched with open eyes and are able to walk and run almost immediately. They are typically fed by their mothers for the first few weeks of life. The diet of baby grouse consists mainly of insects and other invertebrates, such as spiders and ticks, but they will also eat some vegetation. As they get older, they may also eat some fruits and nuts.
