What do giraffe eat?

Giraffes eat almost exclusively plant matter, specializing in leaves, shoots and buds of trees and shrubs. They are especially partial to the leaves of the acacia tree, which are high in protein and low in moisture. Depending on the season and the availability of their preferred foods, giraffes may also eat grasses and fruits, as well as the seed pods of certain trees and plants.
