Can a coyote eat deer?
Coyotes are capable of killing and eating deer, although it is not their primary food source. While they are opportunistic predators and will consume any accessible prey sources, deer are often much larger than a coyote and can defend themselves effectively. Coyotes generally prefer smaller prey, such as rabbits, hares, rodents, and birds, but may target larger animals, including deer, especially if they are weakened, sick, or young.
