How do muskrats get their food?
Muskrat's are herbivorous and are known for their preference for succulent vegetation. They utilize their sharp incisor teeth to clip aquatic vegetation, such as reed grass, cattails, and other underwater plants. Their herbivorous diet also includes roots, vegetables, and fruits. During the winter when freshwater sources freeze over, muskrats expand their diet to tree bark, nuts, seeds, and the inner root portions of aquatic plants they can reach beneath the ice.
