Do giraffes live alone or in group?

Giraffes usually live in loose-knit social groups called towers. These towers can vary in size from just two or three individuals to over 70. The composition of a tower can also vary, with males, females, and calves all mixing together.

Giraffe towers are not very territorial, and they often merge and split apart as animals come and go. However, some groups do seem to have a core membership that stays together for long periods of time.

The social structure of a giraffe tower is complex, and there is still much that we do not understand about it. However, it is clear that these animals are social creatures that enjoy living in groups.
