Where are most manatees located?

Manatees are found in shallow coastal waters and estuaries of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. They are most abundant in the southeastern United States, particularly Florida, where over half of the world's manatee population resides. Other significant populations are found in Mexico, Belize, and the waters surrounding the Greater Antilles. Manatees are also found along the northern coast of South America, from Brazil to Guyana, and as far south as northern Chile. Small, isolated populations of manatees are found in Central America and the West Indies.
