Where can the pygmy hedgehog be found?

The Pygmy Hedgehog (scientific name: Atelerix albiventris) is not actually a distinct species, but rather a subspecies of the Four-toed Hedgehog (Atelerix albiventris).

These hedgehogs are native to Africa, specifically:

* Western and Central Africa (countries including Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of Congo)

They are not found in the wild in any other part of the world.

However, due to their popularity as pets, Pygmy Hedgehogs can now be found in many countries around the globe.
