Things You'll Need
- PVC pipe
- Cardboard boxes
- Old clothing
- Dryer vent hoses
Instructions
Connect pieces of large PVC pipe in different ways to create a maze of tunnels that span out in many directions. Get lots of pieces of pipe with different angles and joints so you can rearrange them as needed. You can make all sorts of shapes and sizes, and it will be easier to make the structure a smaller size if you need to place it in another room.
Cut holes in cardboard boxes and attach them to each other. You can get boxes of all shapes and sizes for this project and build interesting structures with various holes for travel. Your ferret will love jumping through each box and finding a new hiding spot. As a bonus, boxes make it easy to hide treats and toys in each one for a sweet surprise. Boxes are also very easy to get, as many people can get them from grocery stores.
Attach old pieces of clothing together. Take old pants and shirts and attach the open arms and legs together so your ferret can tunnel through the fabric. This is a great option if your space is limited, because you can put the pile of clothing in a closet when it's not in use. Clothing is also great because you can make the arms and legs overlap and wind through each other for a more complicated maze.
Get a few pieces of dryer vent hose. Those clear plastic accordion style dryer hoses are great for ferrets to play in. You can lay these on the floor in loose knots and your ferret will slither through them for hours. It can be very entertaining to watch your ferret play through the clear plastic. This is also a good option for those with limited floor space, because you can simply collapse the hoses for easy storage.
