When did the giraffes live?
The giraffe is the tallest land animal on Earth and is native to Africa. Giraffes have existed for millions of years, with the earliest known giraffe fossils dating back to the Miocene epoch about 10 million years ago. The modern giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) evolved during the Pleistocene epoch, which began about 2.6 million years ago. During this time, there were several species of giraffes, but today only one species remains—the Giraffa camelopardalis.
