Where does the chamois live?

Chamois are found in the rocky mountains of Europe, from the Pyrenees in the west to the Alps in the east, and from the Apennine mountains in Italy in the south to the Carpathians in Romania in the north. They are also found in small populations in the Caucasus Mountains and in isolated pockets in Turkey and Iran. In Greece and Bulgaria they are found in the mountain chains bordering Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia, such as the Pindus Mountains and Pirin. In the Alps they are found in mountainous regions including in France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, Germany and Slovenia.
