Would a black bear approach camp fire with people there?
Black bears are typically wary of humans and will usually avoid confrontations. However, they are attracted to food and may approach a campfire if they believe there is food present. If a black bear does approach a campfire, it is important to remain calm and make yourself look as large as possible. Do not run or make sudden movements, as this could startle the bear and cause it to attack. Slowly back away from the bear while making noise to let it know you are there. If the bear continues to approach, you may need to use bear spray or other deterrents to scare it away.
