What is a creep feeder?
A creep feeder is a special type of feeder that allows young livestock, such as calves or lambs, to have access to supplemental feed while their mothers are still eating regular feed. Creep feeders are designed to be low to the ground and have small openings that only the young animals can reach, preventing the mothers from accessing the feed. This setup encourages early intake of solid feeds and helps with the transition from milk to more complex diets as the young grow and develop. Creep feeders are often used with calves and lambs, but can also be used with other types of young livestock such as kids (baby goats) or foals (young horses).
