The photic zone is the upper layer of the ocean that receives enough sunlight for photosynthesis to occur. The aphotic zone is the layer of the ocean that does not receive enough sunlight for photosynthesis to occur.
Manatees are found in both coastal waters and rivers, and they can dive down to depths of up to 30 feet. While they may spend some time in the photic zone, they are not limited to this area and can also be found in the aphotic zone.
