Where are the lemur scent glands?

The lemur scent glands are:

Anogenital Glands

- Located on the genitals, the bases of the tail and inside of the thighs, between the anus and the external genitals

- Present in all lemurs

- In most lemurs, the males have larger scent glands than females

Forehead Glands

- Located on the forehead and are used to mark territory by rubbing their head or forehead on objects like tree trunks or branches

- Present in all lemurs except the cheirogaleids

Brachial Glands

- Located on the inside of the upper arm, near the elbows

- Only present in cheirogaleids
