What type of shelter does the brown bear make or use?

Brown bears do not construct specific shelters or nests like some other animals do. They typically find natural shelters, such as caves, rock crevices, hollow logs, or dense vegetation, to rest and sleep in. These shelters provide protection from the elements and predators. Brown bears may also occasionally dig shallow depressions in the ground or use overturned trees as temporary shelters. During the winter months, some brown bears construct dens for hibernation, which are usually located in caves, burrows, or under fallen trees.
