2. Make yourself look big. Stand up tall, spread your arms and legs, and make noise to try and scare the bear away.
3. Fight back if necessary. If the bear attacks, fight back as hard as you can. Use anything you can find as a weapon, such as rocks, sticks, or your backpack. Aim for the bear's eyes, nose, and mouth.
4. Play dead if the bear does not retreat. If the bear continues to attack, lie on your stomach with your hands behind your head and cover your neck. Protect your vital organs and remain still until the bear leaves.
5. Seek medical attention immediately if you are injured. Even if you think your injuries are minor, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Polar bear attacks can be very serious and can result in severe injuries.
