How long can a raccoon grow?

The length of a raccoon can vary depending on the specific subspecies and individual. On average, raccoons can grow to be approximately 20 to 30 inches (50 to 76 centimeters) long from the tip of their nose to the base of their tail. The tail itself can add an additional 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 centimeters) to their total length.

Some larger subspecies of raccoons, such as the Northern Raccoon (Procyon lotor lotor), can reach lengths of up to 36 inches (91 centimeters) or more, including their tail. However, most raccoons tend to fall within the average range mentioned above.
