What temperature should a ferret be kept at?

Ferrets need to be kept in a temperature range of 70-90°F (21-32°C).

Here's why:

* They are susceptible to heatstroke: Ferrets have a short muzzle and can't pant effectively to cool down. Temperatures over 90°F can be dangerous for them.

* They are prone to hypothermia: They have a low body fat percentage and are easily chilled. Temperatures below 70°F can make them uncomfortable and lead to health problems.

Important Considerations:

* Provide a safe, warm space: Use a heated bed, ceramic heat emitter, or heating pad (set on low and never directly under the ferret) to provide a warm space for your ferret, especially during colder months.

* Monitor the temperature: Use a thermometer to ensure the temperature in your ferret's cage is within the safe range.

* Watch for signs of overheating: If your ferret is panting excessively, lethargic, or has a red or dry nose, immediately move them to a cooler location and contact your veterinarian.

* Watch for signs of hypothermia: If your ferret is shivering, lethargic, or has a cold nose, immediately warm them up with a heating pad or warm blanket.

Note: Individual ferrets may have different temperature preferences. It's important to observe your ferret's behavior and adjust the temperature accordingly.
