How does an animal get trichinosis?
Animals get trichinosis by eating raw or undercooked meat from infected animals, such as pigs, wild game, and bears. Trichinella spiralis, the parasite that causes trichinosis, can form cysts in the muscles of these infected animals. When another animal eats the raw or undercooked meat, the cysts break open and release the larvae, which then mature into adult worms and reproduce, leading to an infection.
