What do hedgehog babies look like?

Hedgehog babies, also known as hoglets, are absolutely adorable! Here's what they look like:

* Tiny: Hoglets are born blind and deaf, and they're incredibly small, typically weighing just a few grams. They're about the size of a walnut or a large bumblebee.

* Pink and wrinkled: Their skin is pink and wrinkled, with soft, pale spines that are still developing.

* No quills: When they're born, their spines are very soft and flexible. They harden and become sharper within a few days.

* Clumsy: Hoglets are quite clumsy at first and rely on their mother for everything, including warmth and food. They'll spend their first few weeks huddled together in a nest for warmth and protection.

* Eyes open around 2 weeks: Their eyes open around two weeks old, and they'll start to venture out of the nest a bit more.

* Weaning at around 4 weeks: Hoglets start weaning at around four weeks old, and they'll be fully independent around 6-8 weeks.

It's important to remember that hedgehogs are wild animals and should be left in their natural habitat. If you find a hoglet that appears to be orphaned, it's best to contact a wildlife rehabilitation center for help.
