How to Clean Your Ferret's Hammock

Ferrets need and appreciate lots of toys, including boxes, hammocks, things to chase and things to pull. Ferrets have a tendency to be rough on their toys though. Any toys that your pets haven̵7;t torn up need to be cleaned along with the cage once a week. Fabric toys, such as hammocks, have a habit of absorbing smells and need occasional washing to freshen them and remove any stains.

Instructions

    • 1

      Untie or unclip the hammock.

    • 2

Run warm water into a dishpan or other plastic bowl. Only use this bowl for washing ferret accessories, not your dishes.

    • 3

Rub dishwashing liquid, laundry soap or shampoo into the hammock. Rub soiled parts against each other to remove the stains. Squeeze the suds through the rest of the hammock to clean it.

    • 4

Rinse the hammock in more water, wring out the excess and hang the hammock up to dry.

    • 5

Replace the hammock in the ferret cage once it is completely dry.
