Things You'll Need
- Power cord cover
- Ferret fence
- Ferret toys
Instructions
Cover the power cords so that the ferret does not have access to them. You can do this by running the power cords through PVC pipe or thick covers made for hiding power cords. PVC is thick enough that a ferret cannot chew through to get to the power cord.
Set up a fenced play area for your ferret. Many pet stores sell ferret and puppy play area fences that can be set up and taken down in minutes and put in any room or outside. The bars to the ferret play area fence need to have small spacing of 1 inch or less and be taller than your ferret is long to be escape-proof.
Give your ferret lots of toys that it can pick up and carry around. Ferrets love to carry things in their mouth such as cat, dog and ferret toys. If they have a toy in their mouth, they won't be interested in the power cords.
Allow your ferret playtime only under supervision. If you see your ferret heading towards or chewing on power cords, pick it up and give it to ferret-approved toys.
