- Making sure the cage is the right size. A ferret cage should be at least 36 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 18 inches tall.
- Using a cage with a solid bottom. This will prevent the ferret from digging its way out.
- Covering the cage with a wire mesh top. The wire mesh should be at least 1/2 inch thick and spaced no more than 1/2 inch apart.
- Checking the cage regularly for any damage. If you find any damage, repair it immediately.
