Do rabbits need to be brushed?

Rabbits should be brushed regularly, regardless of their breed. Brushing helps to remove loose fur, dirt, and debris from their coats. It also stimulates their skin and helps them to stay cool and comfortable.

Regular brushing also helps to prevent fur mats and tangles, which can be painful for rabbits and lead to skin problems.

The frequency with which a rabbit needs to be brushed depends on their breed. Long-haired rabbits, such as Angoras, need to be brushed daily or every other day. Short-haired rabbits, such as Holland Lops, can be brushed once or twice a week.

When brushing your rabbit, start at their head and work your way down to their tail. Be sure to brush their belly and legs as well. Use a soft brush that won't damage their fur.

If your rabbit starts to struggle or squirm, stop brushing them and try again later.

Brushing your rabbit can be a bonding experience for both of you. It's a time for you to interact with your pet and show them that you love them.
