- North American Ringtail- Bassariscus astutus:
A carnivorous, solitary mammal and nocturnal procyonid
native to arid regions of southwestern United States and Mexico.
It is characterized by distinctive, black tail that is banded
with several creamy white rings near the end.
- Australian Ringtail Possum – Pseudocheirus peregrinus :
A medium sized marsupial also called common or grey ringtail and is
native to eastern costal Australia and is common in eucalyptus
woodlands. This possum indeed carries distinctive, grippy and a prehensile
tail used as a fifth limb with no fur in the central to distal part , giving a ringtailed appearance , hence their name .
