In ancient times, there lived a giant panda named Mengmeng who had beautiful, emerald green eyes. Mengmeng was a kind and gentle panda who loved to play with the other animals in the forest. Unfortunately, he was also a very curious panda, and his curiosity would soon get him into trouble.
One day, Mengmeng was exploring the forest when he came across a group of humans. The humans were armed with spears and bows and arrows, and they were hunting for food. Mengmeng was terrified! He knew that humans were dangerous, and he wanted to get away as quickly as possible.
But just as Mengmeng was about to run away, the hunters spotted him. They yelled and cheered and began to chase after him. Mengmeng was so scared that he didn't know what to do. He just ran and ran, but the humans were faster than he was.
Soon, Mengmeng was surrounded by the hunters. They were about to shoot him with an arrow when Mengmeng's eyes turned from emerald green to black. The hunters were so surprised that they dropped their weapons and ran away.
Mengmeng was saved! He was so happy that he began to cry tears of joy. As his tears rolled down his cheeks, they fell into his eyes and colored them black. That is why pandas still have black eyes today.
The Legend of the Panda and the Bamboo Forest
In the ancient days of China, there was a vast and lush bamboo forest that stretched for miles. This forest was home to many different creatures, including a giant panda named Mei Mei. Mei Mei loved to eat bamboo, and she would spend hours munching on the tender shoots.
One day, Mei Mei was eating bamboo when she heard a loud noise. She looked up and saw a group of humans coming toward her. The humans were carrying axes and saws, and they were ready to cut down the bamboo forest.
Mei Mei was horrified! She knew that if the humans cut down the bamboo forest, she would have nothing to eat. She had to stop them!
Mei Mei jumped down from the tree and ran toward the humans. She waved her arms and shouted at them, trying to scare them away. But the humans just laughed. They thought Mei Mei was just a harmless panda.
Mei Mei was getting desperate. She didn't know what to do. Then she had an idea! She ran back into the forest and found a large, sharp rock. She picked up the rock and ran back to the humans.
The humans were still laughing when Mei Mei threw the rock at them. The rock hit one of the humans in the head, and he fell to the ground unconscious. The other humans were so surprised that they ran away.
Mei Mei had saved the bamboo forest! She was so happy that she began to dance and sing. As she danced and sang, the bamboo forest came to life. The bamboo trees grew taller and greener, and the animals returned to the forest.
Mei Mei lived in the bamboo forest for many more years. She had many adventures, but she never forgot the day she saved the forest from the humans. And that is how the giant panda came to be associated with the bamboo forest.
