How many different types of teeth does a horse have?

A horse has three different types of teeth:

1. Incisors: These are the front teeth, used for biting and tearing.

2. Canines: These are the pointed teeth located behind the incisors, used for tearing and fighting. (Though they are often quite small and not used for fighting.)

3. Premolars and Molars: These are the back teeth used for grinding and chewing.

Horses have a total of 40 teeth when fully adult, but canines can sometimes be absent in mares.
