Instructions

    • 1

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and set it aside.

    • 2

Combine 1 cup molasses, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 5 shredded carrots and 1 cup of applesauce in a large mixing bowl.

    • 3

Place 1 cup of sweet feed, 2 cups of bran and 1 cup of flaxseed in a separate mixing bowl.

    • 4

Pour the molasses mixture slowly into the sweet feed mixture, and blend well. The mixture should form a thick dough, so if it doesn't appear thick enough add a little more bran.

    • 5

Drop the dough by tablespoons onto the foil-lined baking sheet and flatten them into cookie shapes with the back of the spoon.

    • 6

Bake the carrot and apple horse treats for about an hour. Turn them over and continue baking them until they're dry, about 45 more minutes, checking them often so they don't burn.

    • 7

Remove the carrot and apple horse treats from the oven and allow them to cool.
