Things You'll Need
- 6 cups oats or sweet feed
- Mixing bowl
- 1 1/2 cup pure honey or molasses
- Wooden spoon
- Large piece of cardboard
- 2 apples, sliced
- 2 carrots, sliced lengthwise
- 1 plastic mixing bowl
- 1 small apple, chopped
- 3 tbsp. brown sugar
- Molasses
- Sugar cubes
Instructions
Oat and Molasses Cake Treat
Put the oats or sweet feed in a large mixing bowl.
Stir in the pure honey or molasses with a wooden spoon. The mixture will be thick and sticky.
Put the horse cake mixture on a large piece of cardboard and form it into a cake shape. Decorate the cake with apple slices.
* To turn a horse cake treat into a special birthday cake, cut about three large carrots into sticks and poke them into the top of the horse cake to resemble candles.
Carrot Cake Horse Treat
Put half of the carrots in the bottom of the bowl.
Top the carrots with a layer of apples and cover the apples with the remainder of the carrots.
Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top of the carrots.
Drizzle some molasses over the brown sugar.
Top the cake with sugar cubes, and serve it to your horse.
