What do young sea horses eat?

Young seahorses, also called "fry", are incredibly tiny and have a very specific diet. They are carnivores and rely on microscopic organisms called zooplankton. This includes:

* Copepods: These are tiny crustaceans that are a common food source for many marine creatures.

* Rotifers: These are microscopic animals with a wheel-like structure that helps them swim.

* Artemia nauplii: These are the larval stage of brine shrimp, which are a popular food source for young seahorses.

As the young seahorses grow, they start to consume larger zooplankton and eventually transition to the same diet as adult seahorses, which includes small crustaceans, worms, and even small fish.
