What happens after the female seahorse lays her eggs?

The male seahorse fertilizes the eggs by releasing sperm over them. The fertilized eggs are then transferred to the male's brood pouch, where they are carried and protected until they hatch. The male seahorse will carry the eggs for a period of up to several weeks, depending on the species. During this time, the male will provide oxygen and nutrients to the eggs and protect them from predators. Once the eggs are hatched, the young seahorses will be released into the water.
