How much heavier is an elephant than a giraffe?

Elephants and giraffes weigh different amounts depending on the individual, so it is difficult to give a single, definitive answer to the question of how much heavier an elephant is than a giraffe.

However, on average, African bush elephants (Loxodonta africana) can weigh up to 15,000 pounds (6,800 kilograms), while Masai giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi), the tallest of the giraffe species, can weigh up to 3,500 pounds (1,600 kilograms). This means that, on average, an African bush elephant weighs more than four times as much as a Masai giraffe.
