How to Put on a Shedrow Tail Bag

Shedrow horse tail bags provide a protective covering for your horse's tail skirt hairs. If you show your horse, race it, use your horse to compete in rodeos or just want your horse's appearance to remain hygienic, a shedrow horse tail bag is one way of preventing your horse's skirt hairs from getting tangled or becoming mangy. Most importantly, a shedrow horse tail bag will prevent your horse's skirt hairs from getting dirty. Put a shedrow tail bag on your horse's skirt hairs and the protection will last for months.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash the horse's tail with shampoo, a bucket of water and your bare hands. Use the curry comb to remove any tangles or knots. Rinse the horse's tail with the spigot hose and re-wash the horse's tail with shampoo and water. Again, rinse the horse's tail and re-wash it. Following the third washing, allow the horse's tail to dry completely.

    • 2

Braid the horse's tail from the dock down to the bottom of the horse's skirt hairs. Tie a rubber band around the bottom of the braid. Double the braid back on itself so that the bottom of the braid is touching the dock of the horse's tail. Use a second rubber band to tie the bottom of the braid to the bottom of the horse's dock.

    • 3

Pull the shedrow tail bag over the horse's tail and up to the bottom of the dock. Pull the laces of the shedrow through the braid just below the dock and loop the laces around the outside of the braid and back through the braid. Pull the laces around the outside of the braid one last time and tie a non-slipping knot. The knot should be on the outside of the horse's tail, not between the horse's tail and his haunches.

Tie the last rubber band around the top of the shedrow tail bag to prevent water or insects from entering the bag. Make sure that you put the rubber band below the horse's dock so that you don't cut off any circulation.
