Along with infesting a host, fleas also take up residence in carpets, grass, sofas, bedding and in barns. Be cause of their size, fleas can sometimes be hard to notice and kill. Instructions

Spray the areas around the farm with flea-killing chemicals. Buy a brand that is safe for use around animals and spray it in the general vicinity of the horse farm and in the stables. Spray the lawn like you would if watering it with a hose and spray the chemicals close the ground so they do not float away on the wind.

Spread diatomaceous earth around the farm. Diatomaceous earth can be easily broken up and cast around the lawn and dirt. Regulate where you spread the diatomaceous earth to dark and shady spots since fleas generally populate and multiply in those areas. The mineral dehydrates the fleas and flea larvae and kills them off.

Places several nematodes in the immediate area around the farm. Nematodes are microscopic worms that feast on fleas and flea larvae. Place the nematodes in the same areas where you placed the diatomaceous earth. The nematodes will multiply quickly and thus should eradicate your flea population.

Brush your horses thoroughly with a flea comb. Dip the comb in a bucket of warm soapy water and dish soap after every few brush strokes to trap the fleas in the water and kill them. Brush your entire horse daily until the fleas are all gone.
