Instructions
Installing a Wired Security Barn Camera
Locate the best spot to put your security camera to monitor your horse barn. If you want to monitor a specific stall, mount the camera at the top corner of the stall.
Hold the security camera in the preferred spot and attach to the barn with a drill and the screws provided with the camera.
Attach the 12VDC adapter to the camera and plug the unit into an electric outlet located in your barn.
Attach the video cable to the security camera, and run the rest of the video cable into your house. If you use flat video cable, you can run the jump line under a door or through a window and close the window or door.
Attach the ends of the video cable to your television in the "video input" slot on the television, VCR or whatever viewing device you are using, in the correct color-coded spots. Yellow is for video, black is for power and red is for audio. If you do not want audio, simply leave the red end unplugged.
Installing a Wireless Security Barn Camera
Locate the best spot to put your security camera or cameras to best monitor your barn. If you want to monitor specific stalls, mount the camera at the top corner of the stall.
Place the camera in the preferred spot and attach with a drill and the screws provided with the camera.
Run the video extension cable from the camera to the transmitter and attach the color-coded ends. Yellow is for video and red is for audio. (Not all wireless cameras require this step.)
Locate a spot on the outside of the barn that faces your home to attach the wireless transmitter. This spot should be high enough that animals cannot reach it, but low enough to transmit directly to your house. The best location is one that enables the camera to transmit the signal in a straight line with no interference, such as trees, to your house.
Attach the transmitter to the outside of the barn with a drill and the screws provided with the camera system.
Turn the antennae on top of the transmitter to point directly at your house and the spot where you receiver is located.
Connect the video receiver located inside your home to your viewing device using the color-coded plugs. Yellow is for video, black is for power and red is for audio. Direct the antennae located on the receiver to point to the transmitter located outside on your barn.
Flip through the channels on the receiver to see which channel gives you the clearest picture. The receiver and the transmitter must be set to the same channel.
