How to Join Stall Mats

Interlocking stall mats are used in horse stalls for several reasons. The rubber texture is better for the horse's joints than walking directly on concrete, the mats are less slippery than concrete and also stay warmer in the winter. While it is possible to buy separate stall mats and place them together, interlocking mats are more secure because of their fastening, making them less likely to slip beneath your horse.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the horse out of the stall and clean the concrete floor of any straw or debris.

    • 2

Lay two stall mats next to each other. The mats are designed with an inverse ridged pattern at either end, meaning two mats can be locked together easily.

    • 3

Line up the protruding edge of one mat with the indented edge of another. Push down protruding ridges into the indentations, locking the stall mats together.

    • 4

Repeat with as many stall mats as you need to cover the concrete floor of the horse's stall.
