Where do vaquitas live?
Vaquitas are a critically endangered species of porpoise that are found only in the Gulf of California, which is also known as the Sea of Cortez. They are the smallest of all the cetaceans, with a maximum length of just over 1.5 metres. Vaquitas live in shallow waters close to the coast and feed on small fish and squid. They are social animals and live in groups of up to 10 individuals. Vaquitas are threatened by several human activities, including fishing, pollution, and habitat degradation.
