Equissage
-
Equissage, an animal massage therapy school, developed an at-home study course in addition to their on-site courses. The program features six lessons designed to allow students to work at an individualized, comfortable pace, according to the school’s website. Lesson exams are given at the end of each of the six lessons. These home-study exams are designed to help a student track his progress and understanding. They are self-graded and do not need to be returned to Equissage. After completing the final program lesson, students must contact Equissage for their final exam. Equissage will then forward a final exam to the student for completion. Unlike previous exams, the final exam must be returned to the school and graded by Equissage instructors. In addition to completing the written exam, students are required to complete a full massage on a horse. This full-body massage must be recorded on video and returned to Equissage for grading. Though the program is designed to be self-taught, students have access to Equissage instructors throughout their coursework. Those with questions, problems or concerns may contact Equissage through a toll-free number. The school guarantees all inquiries will be answered within 24 hours. Equissage is approved for 50 hours of continuing education by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

Equine Massage Home Study Programs & Certification
Equine Massage is one of the most well-respected forms of horse therapy. Racehorse trainers, recreational horse owners and animal therapists use massage techniques to treat a variety of conditions and improve a horse’s overall health. Equine massage improves mobility, range of motion and improves performance. Several massage schools offer study-at-home programs, allowing students to become certified equine massage therapists in their spare time.
