    Northwest School

    • Northwest School of Animal Massage offers professional training for large animal massage, including horses and livestock. Certification courses combine distance learning with hands-on, practical applications. At Northwest, three levels of massage training are offered: Level 100 is the foundation for career-seeking therapists; Level 200 and Level 300 are both designed to offer students specialized training to enhance their massage techniques.

    Equissage

    • The Equissage Certificate Program in Equine Sports Massage Therapy was born in 1992 as the first such program in the world. Its founder, therapist Mary A. Schreiber, had seen her human clients experience outstanding results and became interested in applying similar techniques on horses. Located in the village of Round Hill, The Equissage Horse Farm is about 45 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork has approved Equissage as a continuing education provider.

    EquiTouch® Systems

    • At the culmination of the EquiTouch® Equine Anatomy Studies Primer, a home-study course, students may enroll in the nine-day hands-on EquiTouch 101/2 course. Graduates are then awarded a certificate of completion. During this course, students receive training and lectures on horse anatomy, hoof care, equine record keeping, considerations of conformation, hands-on massage technique training, saddle fitting and more.
