Instructions
Choose rice bran as a supplement because you have a hard keeper horse you want to put weight on without increasing its grain ration. Rice bran will also help with skin and coat condition.
Choose a stabilized rice bran product rather than a nonstabilized one. Nonstabilized products can go rancid easily.
Add rice bran to feed rations gradually until you're feeding 1/2 to 2 lbs. with your horse's grain ration a day (not per feeding). Do not feed rice bran on its own.
Increase the amount of rice bran gradually as needed and decrease your horse's grain ration as desired. Make sure your horse's nutritional requirements are still being fulfilled.
How to Feed Rice Bran to a Horse
Rice bran is made from the brown layer between rice hulls and white rice. It is a high-fat, low-starch equine supplement usually given to horses to help with weight gain. Rice bran is easy to add to your horse's daily feed rations.
