When should you give a horse its first vaccinations?

Foals should receive their first vaccinations at around 6 to 8 weeks of age. This includes vaccinations for tetanus, Eastern and Western equine encephalitis, and West Nile virus. Depending on the geographic area, other vaccinations may also be recommended, such as those for rabies, Potomac horse fever, and strangles. A veterinarian can advise on the appropriate vaccination schedule for a particular foal based on its location and risk factors.
