How to Assemble a D Ring Bridle

The D-ring snaffle is a popular bit with English riders. These bits are often used in both flat classes and jumping competitions at horse shows as well as out on the trail. But the D-ring snaffle only works if it is assembled properly, so be sure to put the bit in the bridle the right way.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the D-ring snaffle and fold it so that the two D-rings are against each other. Slide the left side of the bridle around the left D-ring and fasten the buckle.

    • 2

Slide the right side of the bridle around the right side of the D-ring and fasten the buckle. Hold the partially assembled bridle while you prepare the reins.

    • 3

Place the left side of the reins through the bottom of the left-hand D-ring. Fasten the buckle.

    • 4

Slide the ride side of the reins through the bottom of the D-ring on the right side. Fasten the buckle to complete the bridle assembly.
