How to Use a Quick Cinch

The Quick Cinch is a tightening mechanism designed to replace the conventional Latigo cinch used on Western saddles. In 1986, Eddie G. Crosby developed the Quick Cinch product with the idea of reducing the amount of time it takes to saddle a horse. The Quick Cinch features a leather strap and a stainless steel lever, designed to withstand 6,000 lbs. of pressure. Properly mounting a Western saddle on your horse will avoid possible injury to yourself and the animal.

Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the original Latigo and remove it from the saddle's D-ring.

    • 2

Feed the leather strap of the Quick Cinch through the underside of the saddle D-ring. Pull the leather strap to allow the stainless steel hook assembly to hang off the saddle D-ring. Make sure that the Quick Cinch hook faces toward the inside of the saddle.

    • 3

Grasp the girth belt dangling from underneath the horse. Insert the Quick Cinch leather strap through the adjustment ring on the girth belt.

    • 4

Fasten the Quick Cinch to the girth belt using one of the adjustment holes provided on the leather strap. Select an adjustment hole on the leather strap that will allow the girth belt to rest securely against the underside of the horse.

    • 5

Raise the stainless steel latch assembly until it rests firmly against the hooked portion of the Quick Cinch.

    • 6

Check the tightness of the saddle against the horse. Readjust the Quick Cinch until you have reached the proper fitment, if necessary.
