How to Use a Western Saddle Easy Cinch

Tightening a traditional Western cinch can be a real challenge, even for experienced riders. As the name implies, the easy cinch is designed to make tacking up your horse and securing the cinch much less difficult. The roller buckle design on the easy cinch gives the rider extra leverage and allows the cinch to be tightened with a minimum of muscle power.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the saddle pad and saddle on the horse as you normally would. Make sure the girth strap is hanging straight, then move to the other side of your horse. Reach under your horse and pull the girth toward you.

    • 2

Run the latigo underneath and then through the top roller of the easy cinch buckle. Bring the latigo back up through the rigging on the saddle.

    • 3

Feed the latigo through the bottom roller on the easy cinch buckle. Pull on the latigo to snug up the cinch.

    • 4

Secure the latigo with the buckle tongue and place the end of the latigo into the latigo holder. Check the tightness of the girth and mount your horse.
